To make the most of your squad upgrades, it’s important to know which skills offer the best
value in Last War Survival. This way, you can get the maximum benefit from each upgrade.
Different hero types—Defender, Attacker, and Support—have unique skill priorities for
upgrades.
Here’s the general consensus on skill upgrade priorities, based on recommendations from
Shey, a senior game moderator:
Defenders: Top right > Bottom left > Top left
Attackers: Top right > Top left > Bottom left
Supporters: Bottom left > Top right > Top left
Now, let’s explore the reasoning behind these priorities.
Defenders
Skill Priority: Top right > Bottom left > Top left
Defenders, also known as Tanks, play the critical role of staying in the front row to absorb
as much damage as possible. While they can deal some damage with auto-attacks, it’s generally
minimal.
For Defenders, start with the skill in the top-right corner, labeled as “Tactic” in the game.
This is the hero’s primary skill and typically boosts your squad’s durability. For example,
Williams’s Tactic skill increases the squad’s defense, making them tougher to defeat.
After upgrading the Tactic skill, focus on the bottom-left skill. This is a passive skill that
usually gives a defensive boost to the squad. The final priority is the top-left skill, which
improves the Defender’s auto-attacks.
Attackers
Skill Priority: Top right > Top left > Bottom left
For Attackers, the primary focus is maximizing damage, so the “Tactics” skill in the top-right
corner remains the highest priority. This main skill is designed to deal damage, which is
exactly what you want from your Attackers, so upgrade it first.
The second priority is the auto-attack skill in the top-left corner. Auto-attacks for
Attackers deal decent damage, making this skill more valuable than the passive skill in the
bottom-left. Therefore, upgrade the top-left skill second. Lastly, the bottom-left skill,
which typically offers a passive boost, should be the third priority.
Supporters
Monica’sSkill Priority: Bottom left > Top right > Top left
Marshall’sSkill Priority: Top right > Bottom left > Top left
Sarah’sSkill Priority: Top right > Bottom left > Top left
For Supporter heroes, the priority skill can either be the bottom-left or top-right skill,
depending on the hero. There are only a few Supporters in the game—Marshall, Monica, and
Sarah.
For Monica, the bottom-left skill takes the top priority in PVE (Player vs
Environment) situations. This skill boosts damage against monsters and provides more resources
after defeating them.
For Marshall, the top-right skill should be your first upgrade. It increases
the attack of all squad members by a decent percentage, making it the key skill for Marshall.
As for the auto-attack skill, it’s less important for Supporters since their
main role is to support the squad, not to deal damage. Therefore, this skill is a lower
priority.
Level Difference Between Priority Skills
A common question that comes up is: How big should the level difference be between higher and
lower priority skills? The ideal difference is around 5 to 10 levels.
For example, if your highest priority skill is at level 15, you should aim to bring the
second-highest priority skill to level 15 as well, followed by the third. Try to avoid having
a large level gap between skills.
The same approach applies to squads. Rotate skill upgrades between your main and secondary
squads. First, upgrade the skills of your main squad, making sure they’re about 10 levels
higher than the secondary squad. Once the main squad is upgraded, focus on catching up the
secondary squad.
